Someone asked this week for the best advice for maybe writing a novel during this pandemic. Well, first, I replied, never say maybe, decide to do it and go both feet in. Second, sit down in front of a computer or a pad of paper with a pen in hand, and write. There is no magic ingredient for writing that first, second, or twentieth book except the desire to do so, and exercising the ability to make it happen. Writing is part natural talent and passion and big doses of exercising a muscle called imagination that many never learn to use. Anyone can do this. You need to want it bad enough. In this crazy world, there is so much going wrong and many limitations on our personal freedoms and ability to get out and do the things we have done previously. It is the perfect time to walk into that home office, sit down, and conquer a new horizon – writing! Here’s hoping – may you write the first line of your first novel today!
